Reverend Cyril Guerra

Submitted by Sylvester “Nunnie” Robinson

One of the staples of Mt. Hermon’s month-long Black History observance is Greek Unity Day. On Sunday, February 19, 2023, Mt. Hermon AME Church celebrates its 29th Greek Unity Day observance at its 9:00 AM service under the dynamic leadership of Reverend Henry E. Green, III (Pastor Trae).  Begun by Reverend Michael A. Cousins, Mt. Hermon continues a tradition, a religious service that honors our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ while simultaneously lauding the myriad accomplishments and contributions of local sororities and fraternities in Broward County in a spirit of unity among the organizations composing the Devine 9: Alpha Kappa Alpha, Delta Sigma Theta, Sigma Gamma Rho, Zeta Phi Beta and Eta Phi Beta Sororities; Alpha Phi Alpha, Kappa Alpha Psi, Phi Beta Sigma and Omega Psi Phi Fraternities. The Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., will be the featured organization for this the 29th Greek Unity Day observance. Former Florida Statewide Organization and Seventh District Chaplain Minister Cyril Guerra, representing Omega Psi Phi, will proclaim God’s word. The theme for this auspicious celebration is: Greeks Unified, Transforming Our Communities Through Service and Civic Engagement.

The Mt. Hermon Church family extends a warm welcome to the public and Greekdom as we continue our emphasis on unifying the Broward community in the spirit of Christ.
