Radio announcer Deacon Joe Riley of WMBM of Miami, Florida

Radio announcer Deacon Joe Riley of WMBM of Miami, Florida will be recognized for his mission to keep quartet music alive through his radio broadcasts and concert promotions. During the virtual 32nd annual American Gospel Quartet Convention Brother Riley will receive The Ruby Summerville Dickson Award.

Mother Dickson, born in Arkansas, was a major figure in the gospel music world. In St. Louis she filled the airways as popular announcer on KIRL radio. Mother Ruby was a gospel singer that shared the stage with the likes of the great Mahalia Jackson. As a member of The American Gospel Quartet Convention, she led the St. Louis chapter as its president.

Deacon Riley will receive a double honor. Along with receiving the Ruby Summerville Dickson award he will be inducted into the 2024 AGQC Announcer HALL OF HONOR.
