Reverend Fred Leuter, Jr. Pastor of the Franklin Avenue Baptist Church (FABC) in New Orleans is primed to soon become the first African American President of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). Leuter was elected First Vice President at SBC’s annual convention held in Phoenix, Arizona last year.

It is believed that by making last year’s historic move, church leaders informally acknowledged that Leuter will be elected president of the organization at this year’s convention scheduled to take place in New Orleans this week.
