The Curtain is coming down on AARLCC’s Fabulous Forties on the Avenue Exhibit, on the final day of its run Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at The African-American Research Library and Cultural Center is located at 2650 Sistrunk Blvd., Fort Lau-derdale, Fla. AARLCC is host-ing a “Cast” Party and everyone is invited. The party will feature light refreshments and will start at 5 p.m. Please RSVP to the Programming Section at (954) 357-224 and leave a message or email enorlin@browardlibrary.org, to assist the library in planning for food and beverages. Also, the Victory Theater within the exhibit will be showing matinees on “It’s a Wonderful Life”, Saturday Dec. 22, “A Christmas Carol” (1951) and Dec. 29, 2012 “Stormy Weather.” Other old-time movies and a sampler video of 1940s film clips are available upon request any time the library is open. * Food DriveFood Drive

Kick-off 2013 with a contribution to the County’s 365, residents are encouraged to make donations to Broward County’s 365 Food Drive, an ongoing effort to help keep local food banks stocked with enough supplies to meet the needs of the community. Collection points include government centers, main and regional courthouses and Broward County libraries. All non-perishable food items, such as canned meat, vegetables and fruit, peanut butter, jelly or jam, soups, pasta and toiletries, are welcome at any time. Residents and employees have contributed nearly 27,000 pounds since the program was launched in January 2010. For more information, visit broward.org/fooddrive.
