Two   Florida Memorial University (FMU) communication students, Delila Nakaidinae, 20, and Taj-Ray Brown, FMU juniors majoring in Communications, will participate this week in the 2021 Christopher J. Georges Conference on College Journalism: an exciting and in-formative event organized each year by the Neiman Foundation for Journalism at Harvard University with assistance from The Harvard Crimson.

    Cancer is a term that describes a collection of related diseases. Cancer occurs when some of the body’s cells divide continuously and begin to invade surrounding cells. Cancerous cells can start anywhere in the body and spread to localized regions and then to distant parts away from the site of origin. When cancer cells begin in the region of the prostate – a gland in the male reproductive system that produces and contains seminal fluid – it is called prostate cancer.

     On March 15, the Collin County, Texas Sheriff’s office put out a release stating, “On Sunday, March 14, 2021, 26-year-old Marvin D. Scott III of Frisco, Texas, died while in custody at the Collin County Detention Facility. Officers from the Allen Police Department arrested Mr. Scott earlier that day and transported him to the county jail. The Sheriff referred the matter to the Texas Rangers, who are investigating this death. As a matter of policy, the Sheriff placed seven detention employees on administrative leave and ordered an internal administrative investigation. The Sheriff’s Office will not release additional information while the Texas Rangers are investigating.”

      Nearly 32 years ago, the harrowing murder of Yusuf Hawkins further revealed the ugly truth surrounding racism in America. For over three decades, his loved ones and supporters have been on a mission to keep his legacy alive. According to CBS New York, a Brooklyn street was renamed in memory of Hawkins whose life was cut short at 16-years-old.
