Derenzo 2Derenzo Thomas is a B-CU junior majoring in psychology with a minor in political science. Most recently, Thomas was selected to participate in the 2017-2018 class of the NASPA Undergraduate Fellowship Program (NUFP NASAP) as a student fellow. NUFP NASAP is an organization for students and administrators in higher education. NUFP fellows will participate in activities that are structured around: Writing, Research, and Presentation Skills; Ethical Decision Making Skill; Cultural Competency Skills; Professional Networking Skills; Identify and Develop Personal, Academic, and Career Goals; Understanding of the History, Mission, and Purpose of Student Affairs and the Various Institutional Types and Structures within Higher Education and much more.

“I am very excited to start my journey and to see what NUFP has in-store for me this academic year,” Thomas shared. “During my fellowship I will have the opportunity to meet with other individuals who have the same passion as myself,” he added. Each NUFP student participant is assigned to a mentor. “I found out about this organization through Mr. Ronnie Mack, who will also be my assigned mentor during the fellowship,” Derenzo said. Ronnie Mack is a current B-CU Success Coach and Instructor. According to the organization website, NUFP offers webinars, conferences, and internship opportunities for their student participants. Thomas will be attending his first NUFP NASAP undergraduate pre-conference in the coming months. Thomas is also currently the only HBCU student that is a NUFP fellow.
