Justice is on Trial in the George Floyd Murder Case
The death penalty is an antiquated and barbaric form of punishment. This is why most nations have ended it. The top six executing nations in 2019 were China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Egypt, and the U.S. The U.S is especially cruel in that there is no categorical exemption for the seriously mentally ill from receiving death sentences. It is time that death penalty retaining states correct this injustice and enact legislation banning death sentences for those who were seriously mentally ill at the time of their crime.
The American Rescue Plan also addresses inequities in access to pandemic resources by making significant investments into small, Black businesses by providing $50 billion for new and existing small business relief programs. This legislation bolsters the Paycheck Protection Program with an additional $7.25 billion in funding to support small businesses and non-profits that were previously excluded.

A Supreme Court case challenging the requirement for men, but not women, to register with the Selective Service System for a possible military draft is forcing Congress to make a choice it has been avoiding for decades: End draft registration or expand it to young women as well as young men.
The Broward Teacher Union and Broward Public Schools have set precedence by allowing an admitted racist teacher to return to the classroom without any disciplinary action. They clearly have chosen to violate the rights of the staff and students of color, along with violating the rights of children with disabilities. These two entities are not aligned to protect rights, well-being, and safety of itsstaff and students.
