The Charles R. Drew Public Charter School’s Varsity Boys Golf Team in Atlanta, which has all Black players and an all-Black coaching staff, has recently won the State Championship, making them the first to do so in the state of Georgia. They also made history as the first-ever Atlanta Public School team to win a State Championship in golf.

 Football is finally back, and the Miami Dolphins are ready to roll. During Thursday night’s preseason action, the Fins were able to pull out a 34-27 victory as they unveiled their quarterback competition in live action in their matchup against the Falcons.

The Miami Dolphins rookie class alongside Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) board members, Dolphins staff, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center representatives and officers of the Broward Sheriff’s Office participated in a #DolphinsHuddlefor100 service project for Rebuilding Together Broward to beautify the home of cancer fighter Lena Mackeroy on Tuesday, June 11.

This past Tuesday, The FMU Lions announced the rebirth of their football program as they are set to compete in the Sun Conference as members of the National Association of Intercollegiate athletics in 2020.

     “This is what we want. This is Memphis,” Hardaway said in his first media session since capping his recruiting season with 5-star prospect Precious Achiuwa. “We don’t bluff. We want all of the smoke. We want everything to be about Memphis. We want it to be, ‘You guys are supposed to do this.’ We want to reach that. That is what this city wants.

     “Our athletics programs attract some of the best and brightest students in the country,” said Dr. David Ponton, Director of Athletics and Vice President of Student Affairs. “This year’s graduates are a great example of how the lessons they learn on the field can help drive academic success.”

The Miami Dolphins yesterday surprised the Santaluces Community High School football team with equipment to help create a safer and healthier environment for their programs. The donated equipment included Dolphins branded shirts, medicine balls, cleats, water bottles, step overs, footballs and Gatorade product. The team also had the opportunity to hear from Dolphins alum and Youth Programs Ambassador Twan Russell about being resilient.

     As a result of the $10.6 billion acquisition deal, Allen’s company, Entertainment Studios, announced that it will buy four local stations from Bayou City Broadcasting for $165 million, according to Variety.

     The film, “5700 Ramsey Ave.” named after the address of Dunbar High School, reveals that despite the hardships and harsh realities of the neighborhood, the successes of Coach Hughes and the Dunbar basketball team helped to shine a positive light on the residents in the community.
