In a prime time NFL Monday night football, game, the Miami Dolphins traveled to the other coast, So-Fi Stadium, Englewood, California, home of the Los Angeles Rams, took control of the game early and defeated the Rams 23-15, a victory that reshaped the team’s outlook on the second half of the season. By virtue of a fast start offensively and an inspired defensive effort, the Fins played arguably their best game.

Retiring Broward County Schools athletic director, Roderick Dante “Rocky” Gillis received the Eta Nu Foundation James L. Jones Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the Eta Nu Education Foundation, the scholarship and financial component of the Eta Nu Chapter of Omega Psi Fraternity, Inc., at its 6th annual Benefit Gala & Fundraiser held at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs Hotel on Saturday, November 9, 2024. The award, named after iconic Broward County educator, former Blanche Ely High School principal and Eta Nu Chapter Founder, honors excellence and outstanding achievement in professional, community and civic endeavors. Previous winners have included Principal James L. Jones, Coach Johnny Alexander, Coach George Smith, Judge Ilona Holmes, and former Pompano Beach Mayor Lamar Fisher.

NASCAR has expanded their Campus Lab Program to Winston-Salem State University, a historically Black institution in North Carolina. The partnership makes WSSU the first institution in North Carolina and the first public university in the country to join the NASCAR initiative.
The narrative of the absence of Black fathers has been overblown. It has been perpetuated over the decades even with statistics to show the contrary. Since 1976, more resident fathers were in Black households in 2023 than any year in between. According to the National Fatherhood Initiative, “children who grow up with their dads are more likely to thrive physically, emotionally, and socially than are children who grow up without their dads.”
After weeks of controversy and armchair coaching by fans on social media, the FAMU football team seemed to catch fire in their Homecoming game vs. Texas Southern University. The Rattlers opened the game on defense and forced TSU to punt on 4th and 16 from the TSU 27-yard line. The Rattlers first possession put six on the board when Daniel Richardson found Quan Lee for a one-yard touchdown to kick off the rattler scoring after 12 plays and 70 yards. FAMU again held Texas Southern to a four and out series and they punted again. TSU returned the favor and forced the Rattlers to a four and out. The first quarter ended with the score 7-0 FAMU.
