Those words start the ā€œFlorida Song.ā€ In 2023, those lyrics go out to all football fans and all HBCU fans.Ā Ā The Orange Blossom Classic is less than two months away and there is strife in the politics of Florida.Ā Ā A series of laws passed by the legislature of Florida, which is Republican dominated to the tune of a super majority, that has caused angst among both those living in Florida and those who travel to it.

Lex Gillette became blind when he was just 8 years-old, but that didn’t stop him from going on to be successful in life. In his newest book, No Need For Sight When You Have A Vision: What Blindness Can Teach Us About Risk Leadership, he shares his personal journey of overcoming obstacles without the aid of eyesight, all while becoming a five-time Paralympic medalist and successful entrepreneur. He attributes his athletic and business success to having a clear vision, one that doesn’t require eyesight.

After speaking with Bobby about Coach Redmond’s idea, which I found intriguing and fascinating, I connected with Coach Redmond to develop a plan of action which led to past treasures like Jake Gaither, John Merritt, and Marino Casem among others. Speaking every week, I dubbed Coach Redmond ā€œ The Collaborator ā€œ because he possessed intrinsic, first hand knowledge about several of the icons featured.
