The Crockett Foundation will partner with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Zeta Rho Omega Chapter (Fort Lauderdale) to host its fourth annual Community Health Festival, Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the beautiful Pompano Citi Center shopping, 1955 N. Fed. Hwy., Pompano Beach, Fla.

The Crockett Foundation community health festival is back by popular demand and this year plans to serve over 2000 individuals. “This year we have added physicals for youth returning back to school, physical exams have been an ongoing request each year” according to Henri Crockett, president/CEO of the Crockett Foundation.

This year, Crockett will have local physicians and nurse practitioners on hand to provide physicals along with other health care professionals who will be providing other needed services such as immunizations, health screenings for diabetes, cholesterol, HIV, cancer and host of other health concerns that plague our community.

Crockett stated that “As a child growing up in Pompano Beach Fla., I was blessed with the ability to ignore all odds placed against me because I believed if I was able to do this then a lot of youth faced with the same circumstances could learn from me. At the end of the day when you really think a-bout it, what other choice is there but to hope? In life we have options-give up or fight for what we want. I choose to fight for the less fortunate so that one day they will be afforded the same opportunities that I have”

This year the children will be treated to face painting, bounce houses and other forms of live entertainment. Politicians will also be on hand to share their political views before the big election on Aug. 14. After the youth complete their “Pathway to Good Health Passport” that will be issued upon entering the venue book bags filled with school supplies and survival items will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.

Vendor booths are available which include a tent, 6 ft table, and two chairs. Interested vendors can download Vendor Registration information at www.crockettfoundation.org or contact Henri Crockett at hc@crockettfoundation.org
