       The Children’s Services Council of Broward County (CSC) announces the release of the Capacity Building Grant for Nonprofit Organizations 2026 Request for Applications (RFA). The RFA seeks applications from small, niche, and emerging nonprofit organizations that serve children in Broward County and have a need to strengthen and grow their business. These capacity-building efforts will enable local organizations to deliver stronger and more enduring programs. Approximately twenty-four (24) organizations will receive project funding, allowing applicants to apply for up to three (3) projects.

  The 2025 tax filing season reflects one of the most significant sets of changes in recent years following enactment of H.R. 1, P.L. 119-21, commonly known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. While the law permanently extended many provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), it also introduced new deductions and reporting requirements that increase complexity for organizations and their employees.

     On behalf of the nearly 9 million people who are now in default on their student loans, a coalition of advocates from consumer, civil rights, and education organizations are appealing to the federal Education Department to halt its plans to begin garnishing borrower wages this month. Default status connotes borrowers are 270 days or more behind on their payments.

      The Florida Board of Governors appointed Orlando-based business executive John Crossman as the newest Florida A&M University Board of Trustees member Thursday. A longtime FAMU supporter, Crossman is the chief executive officer (CEO) of Crossman Career Builders, which provides resources and scholarships for college students and young professionals.
