Bluntly speaking, it is frustrating that in South Florida, one of the most diverse communities you can find, people speak about diversity and equity but do not practice what they preach when making decisions. The current School Board is a prime example. It lacks diversity in race and gender, and yet the decisions made by them scream the need for change. A white female school superintendent is being led by nine blind bosses, eight of them white women. When studying the picture of them, all smiling for the camera, it brings about a deep sadness for the students in Broward, as if a family portrait was taken and you were told to excuse yourself.

In considering how to best get this work done, Cartwright, if smart, has no other choice but to choose Wanza as Deputy Superintendent. It is not a matter of who you like, but what you need. I donât like cold ice water, but if I were in the hell that Cartwright is in, I would take what I need and drink up. Â
If beating a dead horse was a person, I would surely have a cowboy hat, like my daddy on my head and a leather whip in my hand.
Last week I told you that Browardâs Superintendent, Vickie Cartwright, behaves like someone else is her boss, not the Blind Nine Board members who appointed her to the office. Furthermore, not ONLY did they turn a blind eye to her actions, they all seem blind to the Superâs disregard for them.
I continue to process what occurred on Tuesday with Browardâs Blind Nine and Superintendent Cartwright. Considering the fact that the building is named after the late and great Kathleen C. Wright, it is a disgrace that the behavior of the ten supposed leaders on that dais represent nothing of what she emulated: Justice, Truth, Transparency and Fairness.
Vickie Cartwright might have executed the hit job; however, âThe Blind Nineâ Board members gave their approval with a wink and a nod. Sure, they made comments like I donât agree, but they voted to approve unanimously. They hide behind, âthe superintendent has a right to create her organizational chart and hire and release staff that she believes will support her visionâ. âBe careful what you ask forâ, and still voted for and approved Cartwrightâs actions. The Blind Nine hide behind those words because it allows them to remain silent regarding the terrible injustice to loyal, long standing employees.
Does the Buck really stop here?
Last week I penned an opinion about the âGreat Replacementâ theory that appears to be woven into the fabric of decision making in the Broward County School System combined with a covert white washing of Black administrators from out of Black schools.
Now you see her, now you donât
