Last week I told you that Browardâs Superintendent, Vickie Cartwright, behaves like someone else is her boss, not the Blind Nine Board members who appointed her to the office. Furthermore, not ONLY did they turn a blind eye to her actions, they all seem blind to the Superâs disregard for them.

I continue to process what occurred on Tuesday with Browardâs Blind Nine and Superintendent Cartwright. Considering the fact that the building is named after the late and great Kathleen C. Wright, it is a disgrace that the behavior of the ten supposed leaders on that dais represent nothing of what she emulated: Justice, Truth, Transparency and Fairness.
Vickie Cartwright might have executed the hit job; however, âThe Blind Nineâ Board members gave their approval with a wink and a nod. If We Donât Say Black at the Ballot Booth, What Will Happened?
Over the last two weeks, I have focused on the reorganization of leadership in Broward County Public Schools. With 41 percent of Broward students identifying as Black, one would assume that Superintendent Cartwright would be actively looking for candidates to advocate for what is educationally sound for Black students. It is not enough to have Black teachers or even Black principals. While the work of Black teachers and principals is extremely valuable to the experience of Black children, there must be representation at the highest levels of the organization where policy decisions are being made and where decisions about how money to support schools and programs are spent.
Donât Say Black Continues with Broward County Schools
The new word/phrase is SME which stands for Subject Matter Expert. It is sad to say but Iâm gonna say it- we are and have been taken advantage of from the first time our feet set foot on this soil of America.
