       The National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA) once again took center stage during the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s Annual Legislative Conference, hosting its 2024 National Leadership Awards and Reception on September 12 at the Conrad Hilton in Washington. This year’s event proved to be an unmissable highlight, drawing a record-breaking crowd of over 4,500 attendees.

     The permanent stationing of more than 220,000 U.S. troops, weapons arsenals, and thousands of aircraft, tanks, and ships in every corner of the globe makes the logistics for U.S. aggression, and that of its allies, quicker and more efficient. Bases also facilitate the proliferation of nuclear weapons, with the United States keeping nuclear bombs in five NATO member countries, and nuclear-capable planes, ships, and missile launchers in many others. Because the U.S. is continually creating plans for military actions around the world, and because the U.S. military always has some troops “on the ready,” the initiation of combat operations is simpler.

       “Lauderdale Lakes, Lauderhill, and Broward County Senior Olympics were held June 27th brought together seniors from local centers for a fun-filled day of friendly competition and community spirit. Participants showcased their skills and sportsmanship in various games, beaming with joy and pride. While winners were crowned, the true triumph was the infectious enthusiasm and vitality of our older adults. The event featured delicious food, lively dancing, and a celebration of summer and community. The Senior Olympics embodied the vibrant energy of our senior population, highlighting the importance of engagement and connection.

The modern political party system in the United States is dominated by the Democratic and Republican parties. It’s important that Black Americans recognize that neither of these parties have helped us to gain political equity. Supposedly the purpose of political parties is to bring people together who hold similar points of view about government.
