This MLK Weekend in January 2025, The Color of Wellness is proud to launch The State of Black Family Health, a powerful event series designed to advocate for health equity, amplify underrepresented voices, and create lasting change in Black communities across the country. Kicking off in Tampa in January 2025, the series will also make stops in Detroit (April 2025), Columbia, SC (August 2025), and Gainesville, FL (November 2025).

chromatic Black™ has announced that artist-activist, curator and creative placemaker Jessica Green will join chromatic Black™ team as their artistic director, beginning the next chapter in the collective story.  The appointment comes after an extensive national search.  In her new role, Ms. Green will provide curatorial leadership of the annual Ida B. Wells Fund, as well as provide oversight for chromatic Black™ educational programs and artist services and advocate for organizational sustainability.

    On May 30, 1922, thousands gathered on the National Mall to dedicate the Lincoln Memorial. President Warren Harding, Chief Justice William Howard Taft and Dr. Robert Russa Moton offered remarks and remembrances honoring the life and legacy of the slain emancipator. A native of Amelia County, Virginia, Dr. Moton was born shortly after the Civil War ended. He knew better than any of the other speakers the importance of America fulfilling its great promise. The most prominent African American leader of the day, Dr. Moton was the president of Tuskegee Institute.

The wait is over, Old Town Untapped is back! For real!  November kicks-off the return of the long-running monthly street festival. Join us on the first Friday of every month as downtown Pompano Beach, known as “Old Town”, becomes the epicenter for art, food and music! Each event features live bands, a DJ, craft beer, food trucks, arts & crafts vendors and gallery openings at Bailey Contemporary Arts Center (BaCA). Old Town Untapped is free and open to the public.

State insurance officials and consumer advocates on Wednesday pressed State Farm Florida Insurance Co. over a proposed 57.3 percent increase in rental property premiums when the company is still not writing any new business.
