Browsing: Legacy Talk™

Last month we talked about the four documents every adult needs: a will, a durable power of attorney, a healthcare directive, and updated beneficiary designations. If you have those in place, you have done something most people put off for years. But signing the paperwork is only half the job. The other half is a conversation that most families never have out loud.

I call it the Essential Basic Estate Plan. It isn’t glamorous. It, alone, won’t be the subject of a family governance retreat. But it is the floor everything else is built on. And without it, nothing else matters, because the people you love will be left making decisions in the dark, at the worst possible moment, without your voice in the room.

Before we can make any recommendations, we need to hear from you. We want to know what you hope to leave behind, who is in your family, what you own, and anything that makes your situation unique. This first conversation is all about understanding your goals.
