For the second consecutive year the  Dillard Panthers girl’s cross country team, under the direction of Coach David Gill, has solidified its position as an early favorite to win the Class 3A State Cross Country Championship, coming off the heels of a dominant performance as district and regional champions. According to Coach Gill, the individual and team ceilings are unlimited, portending a great future for the program.

After 28 interminable, protracted and disappointing years, the New York Liberty finally clinched its first Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) Championship. In a classic slugfest where both teams won on the visitor’s floor, and tied at 2 games each,  the fifth and final game was played at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. Neither team shot exceptionally well in the lowest scoring of all the games, highlighted by Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu shooting a dreadful 1-19, the same Sabrina who scored the iconic 3 point shot to give the Liberty a 2-1 advantage, assuring a final game at home if necessary and indeed it was.

The Miami Dolphins lost a third consecutive game, falling to the Tennessee Titans in a first half defensive battle with a half time score of 9-3 Titans,  field goals the order of the day for both teams.

The second of the 2 magical plays that reversed the Dolphins’ fortunes was an 80 yard touchdown pass, catch  and run orchestrated by Tua and Tyreek in the third quarter, bringing the Fins closer at 17-14. Obviously, the mercurial Hill by this time had shrugged off the totally unnecessary pregame incident. I can say that with steadfast resolution after viewing the police body cam footage of incident.  After shanking an earlier 42yard  field goal, placekicker Jason Sanders made good on a 37 yarder to tie the game. Now it was up to the Dolphins defense. Jaelan Phillips, returning after a serious knee injury, sacked Lawrence,  forcing a punt. The Dolphins got the ball back with 2:09 remaining in game, controlled the clock and won the game when reliable Jason Sanders kicked the winning field goal, a 52 yarder to close out the Dolphins first victory of the year, an ugly but welcomed one. However, the celebration must be short-lived as they face division rival and nemesis, the Buffalo Bills on Thursday night in prime time at the Hardrock. Go Fins!
