Congratulations to our local, outstanding collegiate athlete, Sydney Blackburn for her record-breaking discus throw at the Savannah State Eye Opener meet last Saturday. With an impressive throw of 150’04”, Sydney, a freshman at Albany State University, is now the new record holder at her school and currently ranked as the #1 discus thrower in Division II. This winning throw qualifies Sydney to compete at the NCA Division II National Championship.
Sydney is a 2020 graduate of Highland Christian Academy and the daughter of Derriek and Casandra Phillips. We look forward to following the collegiate career of our hometown girl!
