Sebastian Wilson, an 11-year-old African American entrepreneur from New York City, is adding a vibrant Caribbean twist to the Flatbush food scene with his new pizza shop, Sebastian’s Spices and Slices. This remarkable venture is a reflection of his heritage and his passion for hard work, a value instilled in him by his parents, who are both entrepreneurs. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, Sebastian’s business is making waves not only for its unique concept but also for the young age of its owner.

“My parents are hard workers, and I just want to be a hard worker like them,” Wilson said. He credits his mother and stepfather, who were born in Trinidad and Grenada, for inspiring him to start his own business and for teaching him the Caribbean recipes that make his pizza shop stand out. Sebastian’s Spices and Slices offers a unique menu featuring oxtail, jerk chicken, and saltfish as toppings, showcasing the rich flavors of his family’s culture.

According to News 12 Brooklyn, Sebastian’s journey into the world of business began early, with his parents teaching him how to balance school with running the shop. While his age and child labor laws limit how much he can physically work, Wilson still contributes by helping with chores and occasionally making pizzas. He’s also involved in important decisions such as designing the store and brainstorming ways to grow the brand, demonstrating his entrepreneurial spirit.

Natalie Lamming, Sebastian’s mother, is fully supportive of her son’s ambitions. “I want to guide him but also give him the tools to take over one day,” she shared, explaining that while she and her husband currently handle the day-to-day operations, they are preparing Sebastian to eventually take the lead.

Sebastian hopes his success will inspire other young people to follow their dreams. “It doesn’t matter what age you are,” he said. “You can still make your dreams come true.”

Sebastian’s Spices and Slices, which opened two weeks ago at 1828 Nostrand Avenue in Flatbush, is already drawing attention for its flavorful fusion of Caribbean and New York-style pizza, setting an inspiring example for young entrepreneurs everywhere.
