    Black and Latinx seniors are more likely to be affected by health conditions that can heighten the risk of coronavirus-related complications. Black adults are 20 percent more likely to have asthma, 72 percent more likely to be diabetic, and eight times as likely to be diagnosed with HIV than white adults. Tackling these chronic conditions and slowing disease progression is essential to protecting these individuals, future generations, and their communities from future health crises.

Alexis Johnson, a Black reporter for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, was âremovedâ from covering any of the cityâs protests over George Floydâs police killing in Minneapolis, according to the union representing the newspaperâs journalists. The Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh claimed in a letter to its members that âthe powers that beâ told Johnson that âshe showed bias and as such, could no longer cover anything related to the protests of the police murder of George Floyd and the systemic racism that for too long has been a dirty segment of our national fabric.â
