The Health Foundation of South Florida, in partnership with Miami-Dade County and Broward County, today announced a major communications effort encouraging South Florida residents to be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus. The “I Did It!” campaign, a first-of-its-kind, cross-county effort spotlighting local people and leaders, is designed to reach some of the region’s most vulnerable neighborhoods that have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic, in primarily Black and Latino communities.  

      Patrisse Cullors has been busy making the media rounds amid financial criticism of the Black Lives Matter Global Network that she co-founded. On Thursday night, Cullors appeared on the Black News Channel (BNC) for an interview with Marc Lamont Hill to set her record straight by addressing the controversy around her organization, her career, the right-wing media that she says is targeting her, and much more.

     On National Healthcare Decisions Day, I want to share the importance of compassionate death in the Black community, including hospice care. Hospice is a set of services designed to treat symptoms and side effects, improve quality of life, support families and address spiritual needs. It occurs during the last 6 months of life, after treatment of the life-limiting disease has stopped.

President Joe Biden has nominated Clarke to lead the Civil Rights Division at the U.S. Justice Department. The U.S. Senate is now considering her nomination. In a just world, there would be no question about her confirmation. Clarke has the skills, experience, and character for the job.
