     A year ago, when I examined the lessons of hatred and political violence in the US, I made note of the ugly role dehumanization and hate played in the alt-right’s support of Donald Trump. I was inspired, in part, by thinking about what Matthew Shepard would have experienced had he lived to see the full-force of Trumpism. But I was also unable to ignore the violent plots which received Trump’s full blessings.

       The Pentagon issued its annual report recently on suicide in the military, and it provides us with very sad news. Despite spending hundreds of millions of dollars on programs to stem this crisis, the suicide rate for active-duty U.S. troops rose to 28.7 per 100,000 during 2020, up from 26.3 per 100,000 the previous year.

     Hatziefastathiou, an accomplished journalist whose sources made him the first to break the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s decision to clear and release Bill Cosby, shared his attorney’s court filings with NNPA Newswire, suggesting that the email in question began as some responding to a request for a favor and escalated to the racist email. 

     Singing competitions have been popular in our homes for generations. We’ve seen shows like Star Search, American Idol, and America’s Got Talent capture our hearts and make celebs out of no name talent. The Masked Singer is a different type of singing competition. It uses celebs as the ones that are being judged. This is the sixth singer for the Masked Singer.       The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Wednesday, August 18, announced a new center designed to advance the use of forecasting and outbreak analytics in public health decision making.

     Accomplished “Jane the Virgin” and “Supergirl” actress Azie Tesfai, can now add writer to her list of credits, making Arrowverse history as the first actor in any Greg Berlanti-produced series to pen an episode on any of his shows, with her co-writing episode 12 of the sixth and final season of “Supergirl,” which sees her character Kelly Olsen become the ‘Guardian’ and address racial inequality. Her episode drew an incredible ratings bump—up almost 20% from the week prior and rising even higher with the DVR numbers in place, most importantly underscoring the audience desire to see important stories being told authentically by women of color. The final season is currently airing every Tuesday at 9 p.m., on the CW, with the last episode airing Tuesday,  November 9th.
