      The African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME), a predominantly Black church, is facing two lawsuits alleging that the global denomination’s retirement fund was mismanaged. According to the claims, the Nashville-based church misappropriated $90 million in retirement funds intended for thousands of pastors and other church retirees.

OUTshine LGBTQ+ Film Festival Miami, internationally acclaimed as one of the largest LGBTQ+ cultural festivals in the world, will open its 24th edition with the first Florida live screening of “B-Boy Blues” (2021) at The Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater on April 22 at 7 p.m. Producer Circle members and filmmakers will enjoy a 5:30 p.m. pre-event Filmmakers SoirĂ©e. The film will be followed by a live Q & A and an opening night party featuring cast from the film, filmmakers and Vanguard honoree Venezuelan actress, model, and philanthropist Patricia VelĂĄsquez.

Funding Arts Broward (FAB), a nonprofit organization committed to preserving and cultivating the arts in Broward County, has rescheduled its fifth annual “Black & White: A Night at The Museum” special event to Monday, April 25, from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. This elegant Black and white themed cocktail party at NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale, open to the public, will feature an exclusive exhibit tour, live entertainment by Dillard High School Center for the Arts students, light bites, and a decadent dessert table.

Pompano Beach Cultural Center is delighted to present the inaugural Unity Concert featuring The Girl Choir of South Florida and the Florida Singing Sons. Both organizations will feature their most advanced ensembles, separately and in collaboration, performing a varied program consisting of classic favorites, as well as more modern repertoire. This combination of choral forces will be a testament to the remarkable abilities and artistry of Florida’s young vocal musicians.

Florida A&M University Developmental Research School (FAMU DRS), the K-12 school district established by Florida A&M University, is hosting a teacher recruitment fair on Saturday, April 23. The event will be held in person from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in DRS’ gymnasium.
