David Wiggins, will share stories about Delray Beach’s historically Black community, challenge current narratives, and identify naturally occurring strategies to inform efforts and engage the voices of as many people as possible in the radically resident-driven work of The Coalition, The Set’s redevelopment partnership. Attendees will learn about the impact systemic racism has had on the Delray Beach community and others like it, and the warmth and resolve of the community in the face of great adversity. To open the event, ChiChiMa Productions will perform “Watchman What Remains of the Night,” a play specifically written to describe the Watchnight church service in the southern Christian church.
