    Officers’ promotional ceremony

    By Staff Writer

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department congratulates the following officers on their recent promotion. The promotional ceremony was held at Provident Park, 1412 N.W. Sistrunk Blvd. (Sixth Street) in the City of Fort Lauderdale, on March 14, 2013.

Assistant Chief Anthony C. Williams is pinned by his mother Ammie Jackson. Williams has served the Fort Lauderdale Police Department since January of 1993, in the Operations Bureau as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Supervisor, Shift Captain, Executive Officer and  District Commander. Anthony has also served the Department in the Criminal Investigations Division, the Community Policing Unit and the Staff Inspections Office as the Department’s Accreditation Manager. Anthony is a veteran of the US Army and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Lynn University and a Master of Science degree in Emergency Planning Administration. He has received 36 Public Commendations and 14 Departmental Commendations. Anthony is also a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy, Class 250.

Major: Michael Gregory is accompanied by his daughter Cierra M. Gregory. Gregory has served the Fort Lauderdale Police Department since February of 1987, in the Operations Bureau as a Patrol Officer, Patrol Supervisor, and Shift Captain. He also served the Department as a Detective in the Special Investigations Unit, Captain of the Criminal Investigations Division, Captain in the Support Services Bureau, and Captain of the Internal Affairs Division. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Florida Atlantic University and is currently enrolled in the Executive Masters in Public Administration Program at Florida International University. He has received 23 Public Commendations and 13 Departmental Commendations. He is also a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum, Senior Management Institute for Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy, Class 248.

I think it is great to see some-one that is a product of NW Fort Lauderdale elevate to the rank of Assistant Chief of Police. Anthony Williams was the department’s senior Police Major in-charge of Police District Two, which encompasses the City’s NW Community. Chief Williams has earned a reputation of having a great working relationship with our residents and he will play a pivotal role in the development of several major projects our department will undertake within the next two years. – Chief Frank Adderley
