Mrs. Hattie Mckinzie-Jamison Sunrise December 4, 1936 -Sunset, August 2, 2021
Hattie Mckinzie- Jamison was born to the late to the late Bonnie Lockhart, Sr. and Hattie Bell Lockhart in Ellaville, Georgia on December 4, 1936 in a household of untold joy. Hattie was the seventh child of 13 children, she accepted Christ and was baptized in her hometown.
Hattie’s family moved to Pompano, Florida, when she was nine.
At a young age, she met and fell in love with Robert Lee Mckinzie and with the loving approval of her parents, they married in 1952.
The young couple moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and Hattie earned her high school diploma from Dillard High School. To this union six children were born: Dwight, Miriam, Barbara, Robin, Robert Jr., and Michael. Robert and Hattie renewed their vows July 15, 1957, at Annunciation Catholic Church with caring Godparents Roy and Grace Mizell. Later, Annunciation Catholic Church closed, and the family moved their membership to Saint George Catholic Church where she remained a faithful member until 2001. Her late husband, Robert Lee Mckinzie, preceded her in death on May 8, 2001.
She later joined First Baptist Piney Grove where she was an active member. She met Joe Louis Jamison whom she joined in Holy Matrimony in 2003.
Hattie was inducted into the S. Hutchinson Senior Hall of Fame, and she was a faithful member of the Northwest Federated Women’s club and chosen as The Golden Girl 2000. She spent her free time serving in many women organizations including St. Martins De Paires Guild, OWL Senior Connection, Women Golf Club of Ft. Lauderdale, American Cancer Society, and the American Heart Association. Hattie received numerous awards and recognitions. One of her most exciting was a proclamation from the former Governor Lawton Chiles.
Whether you’ve known Hattie, one day, one year or many years, one thing you can say: she was a good person with a good heart, who would do anything for anyone. She was always pleasant and smiling; she was presented the Best Smile award at her family reunion.
Hattie leaves to cherish her memory: her husband Joe Louis Jamison, his brother Adam (Sue) Jamison and sister Mary Lee Reddish and niece Tonny Reddish; her brother Felton Davis and sister Vertistine (Willie) Cubbage. Her children and grandchildren: Dwight (Sheldon, Dwight Jr, Patricia, Joey, and Krystal). Miriam (Cornelius); Barbara (Derek; Robin (Robin); Robert Jr (Robert III and Ryan) and Michael(Devondrius). A host of great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. And many longtime friends.
