To assist Broward County renters in avoiding eviction, the County is offering emergency rent and utility payments to low-income renters through the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP). Applications are still being accepted, but eviction protections have ended so renters are urged to act quickly. Broward County has opened four in-person intake centers to help speed the application process in addition to providing a call center staffed with multilingual English/Spanish/Haitian Creole professionals from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday.

While completing the application does not guarantee the renter will receive assistance or that the landlord won’t begin eviction proceedings, Broward County believes that it will be a deterrent to many landlords who would rather not go through the time and expense of eviction if their tenant has submitted an application and is waiting to hear if they qualify for assistance.

ERAP provides up to 12 months of past due rent and utility payments (back to March 13, 2020) for low-income rental households that have experienced financial hardships as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, eligible households can receive up to three months of future payments if needed to ensure housing stability, and if funds are available. There is no maximum monthly payment for eligible households.

Emergency Rental Assistance Program eligibility requirements and the online application can be found at BrowardCounty.org/RentAssistance, or you may schedule a visit to one of the County’s four Intake Centers. Appointments are required and can be made by calling the Intake Scheduling Hotline at 800-204-0557. Broward County ERAP Intake Centers are located at:

Housing Foundation of America – 2400 N. University Drive, Suite 200, Pembroke Pines, FL 333024

Housing Foundation of America – 1773 N. State Road 7, Suite 101-D, Lauderhill, FL 33313

Crisis Housing Solutions (at the Northwest Family Success Center) – 10077 NW 29th St., Coral Springs, FL 33065

Consolidated Credit – 5701 W. Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33
