The Gantt Report

Don’t get twisted about the title of this opinion column. Gantt Report readers know that I am fond of Fulton County Georgia State Attorney Fani Willis.
Willis had been accused by supporters of Donald Trump of benefiting financially from hiring a lawyer she once had a close relationship with.
However, when those allegations were tried and heard in a court of law, no concrete evidence was heard that supported the claim of Willis benefiting from hiring her lawyer friend.
However, the intimate coworker relationship did raise some eyebrows.
No one knows who they will fall in love with, and more cats and snakes are chased in offices and other workplaces than are chased at the club.
If you take a rudimentary look, you will see that male and female coworkers spend more time together at work than they do with their partners at home.
After eight hours of grinding at work, preparing dinner, doing housework, and parenting the children, most spouses and partners spend most of their together-time sleeping.
A relationship with longevity is hard work. Couples need to make time for each other.
When the thrill is gone, or dwindling, the coworker who compliments you and suggests he or she is better than what you have, may have a chance to hit the forbidden prize.
No problem. Just don’t be too sneaky about it. Your coworkers can see the goo-goo smiles, hear the over-the-top compliments, and witness the longer and tighter side-piece hugs that the spouses and significant others never get.
The truth is always the best thing that can be said. When aspects of coworker relations are distorted or hidden, they are not hidden for long.
Oftentimes, the men and women you work with, are telling you to “give your coworker some” because he or she is a nice man or woman may be telling you what they think you want to hear. Those same coworkers that tell you to go for it, laugh at you when your work-inspired escapade goes wrong.
False, or at least unproven, allegations were made against Fani Willis but her emotional reactions and responses in court did not help the way that onlookers evaluated the whole situation.
No doubt, we all have feelings but sometimes our emotions need to be contained or controlled.
Anyway, I still like Fani. I believe she is a skilled and talented State Attorney and lawyer who should remain as the prosecutor on the Donald Trump Georgia election interference case.
At least two candidates have announced their intentions to run against Fani Willis in the next election for Fulton County State Attorney.
If Willis asks me to help her win, I will help her.
At this point in my career, I don’t waste my time trying to save candidates who don’t want to be saved and I won’t assist Black candidates who believe white political ice is colder than Black political ice.
While I wish Fani well, I was impressed with some comments made by one of her possible opponents.
The Black attorney who was questioned by news reporters about the Willis court appearances did not disparage Fani Willis. He basically said he would be a “better State Attorney”.
If you are in or out of love, just tell the truth about it and be careful on business trips and workplace parties where workers blame sex acts on “the alcohol”!
I would not describe what happened to Willis as Fani’s fault. Maybe, it was Fani’s circumstance.
