On Saturday 7-13-24 at former president Trump’s rally, he was shot in his right ear, and was missed by inches of dying. It is easy for many Americans to not agree with Trump’s platform, but violence is never the way to resolve an issue.

Political violence is despicable and all around the world, leaders are expressing their indignation with the sickness of the shooter who was able to get a clear shot at Trump. Americans watched with horror as Trump fell to the floor as there was blood on his face.

This rally is a stark reminder of the dangerous violence, and the political extremism in the country. Anyone, at any time will not stop at any event to eliminate any individual. It appeared that Trump had excellent protection and safety, but all it takes is one shot from on top of a roof to kill someone.

As the federal government does an investigation on how and why this happened, the challenge and the respect for democratic life goes forward. The FBI is doing the critical investigation of the shooting, and many attendees are claiming that there were no police or secret service agents on the rooftops.

This allowed the shooter, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks an opportunity to climb on top of the roof and get a clear shoot. Some attendees watched Mr. Crooks climb on the roof, and the agents were not prepared. Mr. Crooks shot six shots, and was killed by the secret service agents.

There was one person killed at the scene and two critically wounded. Corey Comperatore 50 year old was killed; James Copertraver 74 year old and David Dutch 57 year old were wounded and now their condition is stable.

President Biden has spoken to Former President Trump on Saturday night, and spoke to the country three times. The president has ordered an independent review of national security measures, and extended condolences to the affected families.

As all of the Americans can breathe an air of relief, there is still a scene of violence, bloodshed and confusion. Biden and Trump did not shake hands at the debate, and the two men don’t care for each other. At this point Americans are asking for unity and peace, but the men are diametrically opposed on what they believe.

Americans and the media are praying for peace, but the Republican conference is starting this week and Trump and his team is preparing to fight. This Republican conference will be ugly, and the party members will not have positive things to say about the Democrats.

Trump will be in rare form at the conference, and it will be hard to see Republicans’ asking for unity. Thomas Matthew Crooks was a Republican and it made no sense to kill the leader of the Republican Party.
