“The interrelationship between the survival of America’s democracy and the health/cleanliness of the planet is indebted to voters and nature’s vultures, respectively.”    John Johnson II…  08/14/24

     By John Johnson II

As we stand on the brink of the pivotal 2024 presidential election, the title of this article, as crafted, will ignite your curiosity. Yet, the immediacy of the impending election should not overshadow the unsettling reality that X-president Trump, a figure Democrat and Independent voters find unsuitable, is the Republican Party’s chosen candidate. Your role as a reader is to delve into this issue and unravel the analogy.

A recent story in the Smithsonian underscored the critical role of vultures in India, where their decline led to the deaths of half a million people over five years. By consuming dead carcasses, vultures play a crucial role in preserving ecological equilibrium, limiting pollution, and curbing the spread of diseases. Just as democracy cannot thrive without voters, the planet’s health is in peril without vultures.

America also depends on two types of vultures, the turkey, and the black, which help keep the planet clean and healthy. The government imposes a fine of up to $15,000 and imprisonment of up to six months for capturing or killing a black vulture without a permit. As the  2024 presidential election approaches, who will ensure Democracy’s survival? As the late Paul Harvey famously stated, “And now for the rest of the story.”

Currently, America’s political landscape, absent of dead carcasses,  is littered with Former President  Trump’s divisive rhetoric, imprisoned insurrectionists, and ruined careers of his political sycophants. Trump also constitutes an existential threat to Democracy,  not vultures.

Trump, with his resume, doesn’t qualify for a job at Walmart and certainly not the presidency. And in September, he’s facing a prison sentence for his fraud conviction.

How is it that the world’s most potent and second-largest Democracy, in comparison to India, is in fear of becoming an Autocracy? Former President Trump behaves like a Frankenstein monster. Embarrassingly, the Republican Party now resembles the Walking Dead. Without shame, the Supreme Court’s six conservative Justices are selling their integrity like streetwalkers.

Yet surprisingly, the veil of Trumpism controlling Republicans is slowly diminishing as VP/ Presidential candidate Harris rallies voters with her message of hope and a more inclusive America. Educated voters and a President with integrity strengthen democracy.

The survival of America’s Democracy rests on the shoulders of responsible voting by Democrats and Independents in the 2024 election, which could see VP Harris ascend to the 47th President. Similarly, the planet’s health is indebted to the role of nature’s vultures in maintaining cleanliness.

With Kamala Harris in the White House as President, America’s  Democracy will be secure, and the threat of an ecological disaster will never happen. Your vote is not just a choice, it’s a responsibility that can shape the future.

    YOU BE THE JUDGE!
