NATIONWIDE — Meet Iris Patterson, the Founder and CEO of Chicago Integrated Health, the newest Black-owned wellness center and medical practice in Matteson, Illinois (just 20 minutes from Chicago). Three generations of Black women are running the company – 43-year-old Iris, who is a Certified Holistic Nutritionist; her mom, 60-year-old Lauren White, who is a Licensed Psychotherapist; and her daughter, 26-year-old Teylor Johnson, who just graduated from DePaul University and will soon be a licensed psychologist.

Chicago Integrated Health integrates nutrition, mental health therapy, massage therapy, and fitness to combat anxiety, depression, and lifestyle diseases.

Having grown up on welfare herself, Iris says that her practice is very passionate about serving other disadvantaged families on welfare. They accept both Medicaid and Medicare, and all in all, have 18 people on staff including mental health practitioners, a nurse practitioner, a supervising medical doctor, personal trainers, and massage therapists.

Iris comments, “We are remarkable women running this company. My mom was 16 and pregnant when she gave birth to me, and I too was only 16 when I gave birth to my daughter. We were young moms, but this did not stop us from becoming successful and giving back to our community.”
