“One who can’t detect a delusionist and follows one is delusional!”  John Johnson II.. 08/28/24

    By John Johnson II

America never, in its wildest imagination, thought that there would again come a President who would bring the kind of shame and criminality that former President Nixon unleashed in the Oval Office and before this Nation. But here we are again, and it’s far more than putrefied shame and criminality. Republican conservative white nationalist voters elected Donald J. Trump as America’s 45th President. Unfortunately, Trump not only disgraced the Presidency but governed as a criminal-minded delusionist.

Engaging in a critical discussion is crucial, and it’s our responsibility to foster a deeper understanding of the profound impact of Trump’s criminal-minded, delusional temperament. This understanding is not just beneficial but necessary for the future of our democracy. Also, it’s essential to examine Merriam-Webster’s definition of “delusional as an abnormal mental state or something falsely believed” to categorize Trump’s behaviors and decisions as such.

Let’s apply this definition to a real-life situation involving the 2020 presidential election between incumbent President Trump and former Vice President Biden. Biden won the election, receiving over 81 million votes, the most votes ever cast for a presidential candidate. His Electoral College vote count was 306.

Trump received 74 million popular votes and won 232 electoral votes. Despite losing the popular and Electoral College votes, Trump refused to concede. He filed countless lawsuits alleging fraud to no avail. Again, rather than conceding, Trump, appearing delusional, alleged he’d won.

Republican Congresspersons and his MAGA followers, fearing Trump’s wrath,  too became delusional, believing that Trump did win. At a recent Congressional hearing investigating Trump’s attempted assassination, Republican Congresspersons exhibited their delusional state by repeatedly referring to Trump as the President rather than the former President.

Trump convinced his followers to storm the Capitol Building to prevent the peaceful transfer of power using his delusional rhetoric about a stolen election. He’s either as delusional as his followers or a petty con artist. Historians will use both when describing him as America’s worst President.

America is facing a critical juxtaposition with the upcoming 2024 presidential election between Vice President Harris, the Democratic Presidential Candidate, and former President Trump, the Republican Presidential Candidate/convicted felon. The urgency of addressing this issue regarding Trump’s continually behaving as criminal-minded, posing a significant threat to the democratic process.

Remember, Trump, being the delusionist that he is, has described the insurrectionists as patriots, yet hundreds of insurrectionists received convictions and are serving lengthy prison sentences. Unless there’s a further delay, Trump, the criminal-minded delusionist, is slated for sentencing on Sept. 18, 2024, for 34 felony convictions.

Trump’s behavior is not unlike birds perching on electric power lines. Birds do so not because they’re delusional but because the generating heat keeps them warm during the winter. Similarly, Trump, the delusionist, backs out of the debate with VP/candidate Harri,s alleging he died previously in a helicopter crash. This comparison highlights the irrationality of Trump’s actions and the need to evaluate his behavior critically.

Regrettably, it isn’t a delusion that Trump, a convicted felon, gets to run for the Presidency. It gets worse; the polls suggest this election will be nail-biting close. Would this Presidential election be hard to predict if the Republican Presidential nominee were Senator Ted Cruz or Moscow Mitch? The answer is earsplitting, “No.”

Trump shouldn’t be able to challenge anyone, let alone defeat Presidential candidate VP Harris. As a convicted criminal, he’s ineligible to get a job at Walmart. Yet, due to America’s racist white supremacy ideology and white privilege, he can still run for the Presidency.

This situation underscores the need for Congress to reform the Presidential qualifications to prevent individuals with felony convictions from running for the Presidency. It’s also time for us to evaluate the situation critically.

    YOU BE THE JUDGE!
