    The Gantt Report

    By Lucius Gantt

It’s October 2025, and early voting is underway for the upcoming elections in various communities and political districts in America.

There will be many Black Americans running for office, but most Blacks will continue to be running for their lives!

Let me go back a few centuries. Centuries before the days of slavery, people of African ancestry had benevolent leaders who believed in unity and harmony. We loved to live in unity and harmony. We loved to sing and dance.

If you had a slice of bread or a bowl of soup you would share a meal with family and friends who had no food to eat.

Africans lived a civilized life with homes, schools, places of worship, running water, and we loved African governance.

Once kidnapped and enslaved, African ideas about governing and public service and commitment was beaten out of our stolen sisters and brothers.

Today, many Black candidates imitate the politics suggested to them by the offsprings of the wicked slave masters.

I know you don’t like for me to write like this, but it’s true.

Every Black candidate describes themselves as “qualified and able” to represent us and our Black communities. At the same time, they say other Blacks who seek elected offices and Blacks who seek political business  opportunities are inferior and unworthy.

Can I prove it? Yes! You tell me.

In the 2024 election, billions of dollars were spent on election                                                campaigns. In national elections,  white companies were paid close to 98% of all pf the political dollars spent.

    1. Your elected officials have political budgets, they hire campaign consultants, media consultants,  direct m Printers, sign printers, pollsters, robo-callers, caterers, graphic designers and other political professionals. Don’t take my word for                                   how political money is spent, campaign expenditures are public record. Ask the Supervisor of Elections in your city or state and request to see campaign reports of contributions and expenditures.

Trust me, there are Black professionals that can provide every service that politicians                                   need. So why don’t the people you love, the people you contribute money to, and the people you vote for feel that they are “qualified” to work on politics, but other Blacks are                                   not?  Hmmm? Well, both major political parties take money from you and give little or nothing back to you They search your communities to find candidates that will do what they are told to and hire campaign staff that they are told to hire!

The conversation may go like this.

The political parties will go to Black candidates and say, “We like you.

We  want to give you campaign dollars, but you have to spend it with who we tell you to spend money with!”

Are you following me? If a Black political candidate says, “I’ll be glad to ignore my people and I’ll be glad to hire the white children of white campaign contributors from states like Iowa, and Dakota to get me votes in ghettos and barrios.”

Don’t get it twisted. Candidates can hire who they desire to hire, but to suggest that there are no Black film makers, videographers, copy writers, graphic designers, pollsters, accountants, GOTV experts, social media experts and others that are qualified to do professional political work is political slave mentality!

I wish all Black candidates well and I encourage all Blacks who are registered to go polling places and cast votes.

I just don’t like it when a Black candidate for Mayor, or other offices, tells someone like me to “Talk to Miss Daisy”, or some other old “MAGA Democrat” who doesn’t have a clue that campaigns in 2025 are far more scientific and technological today than campaigns were in 1955!

Most Black candidates in 2025, 2026, and 2028 will lose because they will be misled, misinformed, bamboozled, denied, suppressed, and ripped off!

Why do most campaign signs posted by Black candidates look similar? They look similar because they are told to use the same sign printers and designers!

Black labor unions, Black media owners, Black voters and Black candidates must all respect each other, work together, and help each other progress.

The US Supreme Court is working right now to suppress voting rights for all Americans but the elimination of so-called “Black access” districts is unconstitutional to say the least.

What I’ve written in this column is why no one wants me on the podcasts, TV shows, and radio shows. The TRUTH sometimes hurts, and honesty is the punisher!
