    The WG Sports Brief

    Nunnie Robinson

By Nunnie Robinson, WG Sports Editor

The Monday Night Football (MNF) game featuring the Buffalo Bills and the Los Angeles Rams will go down in history as one of the greatest games ever contested. In the end, it was the greatness of Josh Allen and his dual-threat ability as both a runner and a passer that propelled the Bills to a scintillating 37–34 victory. What a game!

In MLB, the Milwaukee Brewers have seized a two-game lead over the defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers. The series moves to Chavez Ravine for the next three games. To defend their title, the Dodgers must win at least one game on the road. In the ALCS, the Cleveland Guardians defeated the Tampa Bay Rays in Tampa. This is baseball at its finest!

In the WNBA, the Golden State Valkyries, led by superstar Gabby Williams, have reached the finals in only their second year as a franchise. They will compete against the Atlanta Dream, led by the polarizing Angel Reese.

The HBCU football landscape is changing weekly. Not only has Mississippi Valley State University won two consecutive games—upsetting Prairie View A&M and coming from behind to defeat Texas Southern—but the Delta Devils also appear to have one of the most electrifying players in the SWAC in athletically gifted quarterback Josh Brown.

Jackson State’s consecutive losses to Grambling State have thrown the East Division into complete chaos. Meanwhile, Florida A&M’s narrow victory over favored Alabama State in Montgomery has only added to the confusion and unpredictability of the SWAC race.

In the MEAC, don’t be deceived by South Carolina State’s three losses, all against FCS opponents. The Bulldogs have faced a challenging schedule. Meanwhile, Morgan State’s rise has been impressive, although its next challenge could prove to be a defining test for the Bears.
