    By Dana Alexander

Inspiring, educational and revolutionary, are just a few words that the students of The Alexander Institute of Biblical Studies, Inc. are using to describe their experiences while attending the newly developed Bible Institute.

The Alexander Institute of Biblical Studies, Inc. was founded by Dr. Lorraine M. Alexander, a local pastor and educator who identified the need to create a formalized training that would be geared towards teaching church ministers/leaders how to minster to and build other ministers as well as the different individuals whom they may encounter in their everyday lives.  It also prepares those who desire to become church leaders while establishing within them effective ministerial tools.

On September 7, 2013 at 6 p.m., the inaugural graduating class of 14 students walked across the stage of the former Mizell Library in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. in the presence of over 100 guest that consisted of their family members, friends and special attendees, as they received their state approved certificate in Continuing Education in Christian Counseling of the Verbally Abused and the Addicted Brain.

Many of whom had not attended school in years yet expressed how comforting it was to be able to sit in a classroom setting where their professor was attentive and willing to direct their questions on a personal yet spiritual level.

“We are looking forward to receiving more knowledge from Dr. Alexander”, stated C.  Anderson, an inaugural graduating student who is looking to create a nonprofit organization geared towards helping individuals develop positive work habits.  “These courses have helped me to identify myself so that I can be more sensitive to others.”

Not only are local business owners enrolled into the classes, there are also other pastors and leaders that have participating as well.

Pastor Victor Lawton, of Praise Sanctuary Church of God in Oakland Park, Fl. stated, “I have been more of an effective leader since joining the Bible College, I am able to better identify what is appropriate when conducting counseling sessions with members as well when we are doing outreach in the community.  I would recommend these courses to anyone who is looking to do more community outreach.”

So what can you expect from The Alexander Institute of Biblical Studies in the near future?  “Our Winter Term registrations will begin in early January 2014 and classes will start the first of February.  We will also have online and correspondent classes this coming new school year as well as satellite campuses in both Miami-Dade and Broward counties. Our classes are affordable and our courses offer flexibility to the students’ schedule”, stated Robin Alexander, the school’s registrar.
