Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated celebrate 107 years during Founder’s Day Ceremony
Fraternity members from Zeta Alpha Lambda Chapter are joined by other chapter members from throughout Florida, as they gather to pay tribute on this historical event, during a recent Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Founder’s Day Celebration.

On Dec. 8, 2013, members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., gathered at the Lauderdale Lakes Educational and Cultural Center to celebrate the 107 years of “Service, Scholarship, Leadership, Brotherhood and Love for All Mankind’. Founded Dec. 4, 1906, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity has supplied voice and vision to the struggle of African-Americans and people of color around the world.
The event, hosted by Broward County’s Zeta Alpha Lambda Chapter, attracted members from 10 alumni and college chapters across South Florida who rededicated themselves to the fraternity’s mission of developing leaders, promoting brotherhood and academic excellence, while providing service and advocacy for our communities.
Keynote speaker, James L. Crumel, Sr., (Immediate-Past Vice President of the fraternity’s US Southern Region) challenged the membership to continue to diligently work to uplift downtrodden humanity in its struggle to achieve higher social, economic, and intellectual status.
“The Annual South Area Founder’s Day Program is a time when chapters from Fort Pierce, West Palm Beach, Broward and Miami-Dade County gather and jointly celebrate the founding of our Fraternity. This is unique within the Florida District and the Southern Region of Alpha Phi Alpha because we are the only area that holds a joint founders day program. We are proud of this tradition and enjoy the brotherhood and fellowship shared during the program,” said Zeta Alpha Lambda Chapter President Keathan Frink.
