    Joint initiative to galvanize the community toward political action and advocacy

    FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — The Broward County Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has formed a joint initiative to host a political candidates’ forum on June 28, 2012, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Delta House in Osswald Park, 2250 NW 21st Ave., Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The political forums are free and open to the public.

    A judicial reception will be held to allow the community meet and learn about the candidates from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

    Candidates are scheduled to debate for the following races School Board District 5 and 9, State Attorney and County Commission District 9 races.

    The goal of this year’s Forum is to provide the political awareness to ensure that residents are well informed and prepared to making their voices heard. During this important election period, the Broward County Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and its partnering organizations are focused on the issues and races that encompass the central Broward region, so that elected officials don’t overlook the needs and concerns of residents who are most at risk, in need and disenfranchised. This is a non-partisan event and everyone in the community is welcome to attend.
