    By Susan Johnes

Daymond John, an entrepreneur, known on ABC’s “Shark Tank,” and the mastermind behind the FUBU brand, opened up in an interview with “Good Morning America” last week about his diagnosis with stage two thyroid cancer.

During the interview, he stated he was now feeling great. John added that he had another half of his thyroid still in and if it comes back he’ll be able to fight it.

He noted that thyroid was a slow-growing cancer, but added that he was feeling better and wanted to share with people what he termed a success. John has been on ABC’s “Shark Tank” for nearly eight years.

John spoke out about his personal medical journey revealing that a nodule about the size of marble was found on his thyroid in March 2016 during a check-up.

Medical experts removed half of his thyroid and had the nodule biopsied, at which point it revealed that he had stage two thyroid cancer.

John will have to monitor his thyroid for the rest of his life. He said that he is trying his best to keep up with all of his public speaking engagements. “I can consider myself lucky that the cancer was caught early,” he said.

John said he didn’t skip a beat and understood that he had the challenge to attack the condition rather than let it attack him. He stated that he hoped his story encourages others to monitor their health actively and seek out medical professionals for periodic check-ups and tests.

John, 48, is the proud father of three daughters. “Success refers to staying in your family’s lives and being around them. I want to be there for my girls to keep yelling and ignoring me,” he said.

John urged viewers to take control of their fate, and get early screening to ensure any potential cancer is caught on time. He said, “There’s a saying that goes, a man with his health has a thousand dreams than a man without who has only one.

This Friday, ABC is set to air the season eight finale of “Shark Tank.” John has been a popular figure on the show, which is approaching its 200th episode, since 2009.
