Broward League of Cities now accepting applications

    Applications due by Feb. 15

    Submitted by Marielle Sologuren

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL – The Broward League of Cities is pleased to announce it is now accepting applications for its Scholarship for Government Studies.

The scholarship is open to Broward County high school seniors who are residents of Broward County, attend a Broward County public or charter school, and plan to attend a college or university to pursue a major in public administration, political science or other government-related field.

Four students will be selected for a $1,000 scholarship each. Applications are due by Feb. 15, 2013. To be considered, applicants must be available on the date scheduled for interviews, set for March 30, 2013.

Applicants must demonstrate strong communication and leadership skills. The application must include one essay, one personal statement, two letters of recommendation and a transcript. Detailed instructions can be found at www.browardleague.org.

“The Scholarship for Government Studies is one of the many ways the Broward League of Cities encourages students to pursue their passion in studying municipal government,” said Broward League of Cities President and Fort Lauderdale Commissioner Bobby DuBose. “We look forward to receiving applications from outstanding students and future leaders throughout Broward County.”
