Kiwanis of Central Broward is expanding the Dictionary Project by partnering with the Broward County Community Action Agency, Inc.  For the past five years, Kiwanis has given from 700 to 1,200 dictionaries to third grade students of schools in the 33311 Zip code area. Students of the Lauderhill Wingate Oaks Aktion Club, a Kiwanis sponsored adults with disabilities program, prepare the dictionaries for distribution.

With sponsorship by the Broward County Community Action Agency, Inc. and continued support from local businesses, the Dictionary Project will be expanded to include fourth grade students of eleven elementary schools.  The Dictionary Project provides resources for students to improve their reading and writing skills at early grade levels as well as preparation for schools’ testing programs.

The Broward County Community Action Service Agency, Inc., is a non-profit organization that provides assistance to low income Broward residents through three federally funded programs. Individuals and families are assisted in setting goals, learning skills and assessing services they need to become self-sufficient. Services provided include, but are not limited to education, training, books, and tools.
