In 1971 Bill Withers sang the hit song, “Ain’t No Sunshine.” He sang about a type of young woman that no longer exists. In the 1970s women were more feminine, respectable, worthy of adoration, less vain and confused.

Today, the same cannot be said of young women. In 2020, the song “Ain’t No Sunshine” would probably have the following lyrics:

Ain’t no sunshine when she’s home

It’s not warm until she’s away

Ain’t no sunshine when she’s home

And she’s always home too long

Wish young thing would go away

    Don’t care where she’s gone

    Hopes she’s gone to stay

Ain’t no sunshine until she’s gone

And this house is a miserable home

Wish young thing would go away

Thank God Bill Withers sang “Ain’t No Sunshine” in 1971.
