The Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Zeta Rho Omega Chapter in partnership with the AKAdemic Foundation, Inc., presented “Pink Ice – Black Tie & Pearls Gala” an evening of elegance. The members of the Zeta Rho Omega Chapter greeted over 370 guests on March 1, at the Sun Life Stadium venue located in Miami Gardens, Fla. Under the leadership of the president of the Zeta Rho Omega Chapter and the AKAdemic Foundation, JoeAnn Fletcher and E. Pearl Maloney respectively, and the fundraising committee, the event was an overwhelming success.

Proceeds from the event will provide scholarships to deserving students, support our annual college tour and benefit the community programs in the areas of health, social justice, economic security, global poverty and Emerging Young Leaders.

Sponsors and community partners included the Miami Dolphins, Coventry Health Care, HCA Healthcare and RKE Law Group. All donors were recognized via media broadcast throughout the venue and on digital CD journals where a copy was provided to all guests. The Mistress of Ceremony for the event was Danielle Knox, TV newscaster and business entrepreneur; entertainment was provided by The Old Skool Gang, DJ Big Man Kelly and Jazz Artist Arthur James Wilson.

The progressive evening started with a Step and Repeat photo opportunity in the lobby on the first level of the venue. A Champagne Reception in honor of Mayor Barbara Sharief was held on the Club Level where background music was provided by Jazz Artist Arthur James Wilson. A three course dinner was served on the second level where the sponsors were recognized and the Chapter shared information about their community programs.

The evening culminated with live entertainment provided by the Old Skool Gang band who played music from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s to the present.  DJ Big Man Kelly of HOT105 concluded the evening with music where guest danced until mid-night.
