    Annie Lee Eggelletion succumbs

    By Staff Writer

On Friday morning, February 8, 2013, Mrs. Annie Lee Eggelletion passed away peacefully at her home in Oak Grove, Florida at 8:52 a.m. She was 88 years old.

Annie Lee was born on September 15, 1924 in Newton, Georgia. She was the daughter of Rev. Weary and Sally Mason and was the last survivor of four other siblings; Willie, Robert, Adele and Elizabeth who all preceded her in death. Raised in Georgia, she descended from a hard working family and carried that work ethic with her all her life. On December 20, 1943 she married Josephus Eggelletion, Sr.

They lived in Coconut Grove, Florida until moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida on August 13, 1955. In Fort Lauderdale she attended Piney Grove First Baptist Church, and worked at Northeast High School and North Fork Elementary School’s cafeterias.

After retiring, on October 9, 1989, she and her husband finally settled in the dream home he built for her in the quiet Gadsden County community of Oak Grove. While living there she attended Beulah Hill Baptist Church.

Annie Lee is survived by her loving husband of 69 years; Josephus Eggelletion, Sr., seven children, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, five nieces and three nephews along with their children, grandchildren and the many friends she had in South and North Florida. Plans for a memorial service are underway in Gadsden County where she will be laid to rest.
