If you criticize the few low life looters and arsonist who blend in with peaceful protesters but do not criticize the rogue cops who beat, maim, and kill protesters you are a hypocrite. TRUMP and his law-and-order posse are hypocrites. In a way, so are the honest protesters who put their lives on the line, during a pandemic, by not taking the next most important step, registering and voting.
As a teacher, I will not attempt to advise or teach a lesson to TRUMP’S followers because they have made it plain that school is “out” for them. For the open-minded demonstrators who looked at George Floyd and said “But for the grace of GOD, go I.” If you do not know what that means, ask your grandmother(smile). A pontiflex is a bridge- builder who help bring people together. As the veterans and first-time civil disobedient protesters examined their conscience, they come to the realization that the song “We are the world” is much more than just a song. I suggest protesters pass out registration forms and explain vote by mail at every protest, thereby make voting a “thing”/a must for all.
This started out as a protest of four white cops’ inhumanity to one handcuffed Black man with a knee on his neck for eight minutes and forty-six seconds. George Floyd last words were a call to his mother, and “I can’t breathe”. It has now metastasized into a 24/7 worldwide televised revolutionary human rights movement. There have been more racist cops fired, revolutionary executive civil rights orders signed by mayors, governors, and new laws by state and federal legislative bodies in the last two weeks than any time in the history of USA.
We are witnessing the beginning stage of the third Reconstruction. Hypocrisy did not start with the TRUMP Administration, but it has made it “great again” by increasing it about 75%. Jesus preached about hypocrites over 2,000 years ago and John the Apostle wrote very scholarly about it. 1 John 4:20 “If we say we love God, but hate others, we are liars. For we cannot love God, whom we have not seen, if we do not love others whom we have seen”. As for me and my household I am a pontiflex, my wife is a pontiflex and our son is a pontiflex.
Please look eye to eye in your mirror for 46 seconds and tell yourself which one you are. Hypocrite or pontiflex? Next please do as my wife’s AME Zion pastor requests every Sunday after announcements “Now Govern yourselves accordingly”.
