Art of selling deceptive promises/policies

Our democracy is run by two political parties, Democrat and Republican, each proffers opposing policies labeled as liberal or conservative. Liberals have been characterized as favoring social programs for the working class/poor, while conservatives focus on creating a free market society whereby money will trickle down; thus, eliminating reliance solely on social programs.

These stark political differences require ingenious plans in order to sell promises/policies to constituents.

However, Republicans have mastered the art of persuading their constituents to embrace deceptive promises/policies as opposed to championing policies which build a strong middle class.

How have Republicans perfected the art of selling these deceptions to their constituents? Deceitfully, they feed them racially laden messages such as welfare queens rip off welfare, immigrants foster criminality, food stamps promote handout seekers, common sense gun laws threaten 2nd Amendment Rights, pro-choice is un-Godly, stricter laws deter voter fraud, traditional marriage is sacred, compromising signals weakness, Planned Parenthood sells body parts, climate change is a hoax, etc.

Republicans reached a new low by shutting down the government to enforce conservative principles. Consequently, thousands of workers went without paychecks for weeks.

The latest deceptive policies proudly fed by President Trump to his base include 1) “We’ve ended the war on America’s dean coal energy 2) Tariffs are an excellent negotiating tool because China pays for the tariffs rather than consumers 3) separating children from their parents will deter illegal immigration and 4) Farmers will reap millions under his administration, but rather they’ve had to be subsidized by taxpayers to the tune of billions.

Trump has assured American voters that if he isn’t re-elected, their 401ks will plummet and that the Democrats will champion open borders.

Sadly, far too many Democrats seem to think that Trump’s deceptive promises/policies will energize his base, thus causing them to vote overwhelmingly for him again. Democrats must dissect and counterattack these deceptions with truths, facts, and figures. Also, Trump’s own strategy of labeling opponents must be used against him.

For it’s time to attach a label or name which clearly identifies who Trump is and what’s his moral compass. One of his former cabinet members has already labeled him as a moron. But even this doesn’t quite depict the grotesqueness of his Presidency. However, just maybe, one of the names of leaders of the Axis Powers during World War I might be appropriate. Senator McConnell has been aptly labeled, Moscow Mitch.
