Black Influence on Miami Art Week

     An overwhelming majority of Black consumers have experienced some fraud and, contrary to common belief, younger adults generally experience fraud more often than their older peers.

     The Wendy Williams TV Show aired from 2008-2022. The incomparable host who made a purple chair famous and powerful, along with her producers was nominated for coveted awards during the height of its run. There were several Daytime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host, a People Choice Award for Favorite Daytime TV Host and more. Yet, most importantly the show was nominated by fans as their ‘tea’ of choice. Tea, the small yet venomous modern day urban slang word for hot gossip. Wendy Williams, aka ‘shock jock’ aka the “queen of tea’ had a ‘tea’ party five days a week, with a catalog of over one thousands episodes for roughly 13 years. There wasn’t a celebrity excluded and every fan was invited to take a nosy sip. During one episode, staying true to her style of equal opportunity of ridicule, the former Mrs. Williams-Hunter relationship was the day’s tea. Yes, hard work and hardships were twins during her climb to success and she balanced them progressively for years. However, her climb to success and eventual star on the coveted Hollywood Walk of Fame was not achieved alone. As we all proverbially know there are three sides to every story but at least ten sides to every tea.

An athletic department administrator at a school in the Southeastern Conference, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: “Once the NCAA lost in court, they basically pulled out of Afghanistan. There’s no rules. It’s crazy.”

     According to the Cyber Security and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), ransomware is malware that encrypts files, causing connected systems to be unusable by their rightful owner. Hackers then offer a list of demands. File owners then have a choice to make give in to the requests and procure the safe return of their documents or lose the files all together. When you’re a government agency- the decision isn’t so easy.

     While we don’t know if she was killed or it was an accident, but police seem to believe there was wrongdoing. Black Twitter, which has been instrumental in getting Robinson justice, has sounded off on the heartbreaking situation, with most discussing how deadly having fake friends can be. One user wrote:

     As I write this, the final few races are being called in the midterm elections that were held weeks ago. It’s clear that that the House will be closely divided, with Republicans holding a very small majority. History shows that in midterm elections, the party that doesn’t hold the presidency typically gains a lot of seats in Congress – oftentimes in a wipeout of the party in power. Republicans’ gains were comparatively tiny this year – but they probably should have been even tinier.

     Tallahassee Police Department (TPD) is investigating the shooting that occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m., Sunday at the outdoor basketball courts in the 2100 block of Wahnish Way near the Hansel Tookes Recreation Center, which was closed at the time.  One victim, an adult male, died as a result of this shooting. Four other victims, one juvenile male and three adult males, sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious.  

      The Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) has accepted a proposal by Palm 78 LLC to design, fund, maintain, and operate a seafood and steakhouse restaurant concept in the space known as the “Wash House.” Negotiations between the CRA and restaurant group have now commenced, with the goal of transforming the site into an anchor for the Old Town Arts and Entertainment District.

     The Westside Gazette discovered that Dillard High graduate, Courtney Parsons, a three time state champion who played under the late, great Marcia Pinder, is an assistant basketball coach at her alma mater, Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In a recent interview it became profoundly clear that we were speaking to a rising star in the coaching realm with an incredibly high ceiling.
