     We should not wait for another one of our heroes to be killed before we stand up to take action to prevent this plague of violence from continuing. Nipsy was a great example of what can happen when a young man from our community puts his head down and transcends the traps that are laid by the enemies of our youth in America.

     Hillary appears to be out of the picture – at last! With that being the case, then who is in contention for the presidential nomination in 2020? Who is going to stand up face to face with President Donald Trump? Right now, we have over two dozen contestants to consider. Some are vague and not well known and others are hangers-on that are approaching 80 years in age.

     “It is dangerous to me when we begin to stop free speech and seek to silence prophetic voices. There are many who say they do not like Min. Farrakhan because all they have heard is various sound bites. Perhaps that is why Facebook wanted to ban him, to keep people from hearing his entire message and the truth that he seeks to teach us,” the Catholic priest explained.

A call to Bernie Sanders and Cornel West on reparations:

      I used to listen to Freakonomics, an interesting podcast, until it called nuclear energy clean and nonpolluting. I haven’t listened to any since. I really don’t appreciate fake news and junk science.

Day of bad memory

     According to Stockton Williams, executive director of the National Council of State Housing Agencies (NCSHA), in 2017 alone, state HFAs provided $28 billion to finance affordable homeownership for more than 152,000 households, 26 percent of which were minority-headed households.

     ‘By the mid 19th Century, the majority of slaves had been introduced to Christianity, although most still could not read the Bible based on illiteracy and the fact that in several states in the Deep South, the White aristocracy discouraged Black persons from meeting in prayer. In 1832, the Rev. Charles Colcock Jones published the book “How To Make A Negro Christian,” a sort of guide to slave owners on how to introduce the precepts of Jesus while instilling abject servitude upon their property.

     Leavell was given a special award by the Ida B. Wells Committee from the charity organization known as Ida’s Legacy. It was founded by Delmarie Cobb, who heads and owns Publicity Works, a broadcasting and media production company in Bronzeville.
