      The Lone Ranger’s slogan is “Hi-yo, Silver! Away!”  The Guardian wrote, “Historians estimate that 20% to 25% of the people who settled the continental US west – a region from Washington state to Montana and New Mexico to California – were Black men and women. They moved cattle on horseback, settled towns, kept the peace and delivered the mail in the wild, wild west. But Black cowgirls and cowboys have been pretty much invisible to most. For nearly 200 years, two separate cowboy narratives, one Black and one White, have trotted side by side in the US.” 

      Black Wall Street is a significant part of Black history for many people. Unfortunately, this time is not discussed enough nor widely taught in schools. The Financial Literacy Institute Inc. (TFLI) is leading this subject for their upcoming event, The Black Wall Street Black Business Expo. This day-long event gathers experts to teach business owners ways to excel. The expo provides a space for networking and the opportunity to see Mother Viola Fletcher, one of the last living survivors from Black Wall Street.

         This investment, made through the National Institute of Food and Agriculture’s 1890 Institution Teaching, Research and Extension Capacity Building Grants Program will support scientific research that addresses some of our nation’s toughest agricultural challenges.

Miami Norland’s boys basketball team of Miami Florida secured their seventh FHSAA state championship title in school history on Friday, defeating Tampa Blake 61-48 in the Class 5A state championship game at the RP Funding Center.

The Bethune-Cookman Wildcats have been named the 2023-24 SWAC Sports Information Staff of the Year. The award was voted upon the league’s sports information directors.

      Jonathan Hernandez, Bethune-Cookman’s head baseball coach, has been named the 2024 Black College Nines Coach of the Year, while pitcher Tanner Boccabello and designated hitter Jose Gonzalez were named to the Large School Division First Team, it was announced Tuesday from the Black College Nines home office.  

      For the second time in four years, no prospects from a Historically Black College or University heard his name during the NFL draft as the 2024 edition of the event wrapped up Saturday.

     Justice in America isn’t always blind or impartial for privileged white people. The privileged treatment afforded former president Trump is detestable and unlawful. Consequently, the criminal indictment of Trump on March 25, 2023, followed by his guilty conviction on  May 30, 2024, are both dates of infamy.

  International law―the recognized rules of behavior among nations based on customary practices and treaties, among them the United Nations Charter and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights―has been agreed upon by large and small nations alike. To implement this law, the nations of the world have established a UN Security Council (to maintain international peace and security) and a variety of international courts, including the UN’s International Court of Justice (which adjudicates disputes between nations and gives advisory opinions on international legal issues) and the International Criminal Court (which prosecutes individuals for crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression).
