     The story of James Hemings is an important one in American history. He was born into slavery in the late 18th century and he, along with his siblings, had a significant impact on American culture, cuisine, and even drinks. His story is one of culinary innovation, resilience, and the pursuit of freedom.

Police officers pulled over a 19-year-old recent graduate from Okeechobee High School because the headlight on his truck was out. Then they found handwritten pages detailing plans to kill everyone at his high school.

     Henry Horton IV, of Okeechobee, was arrested Thursday by Palm Beach County Sheriff’s detectives after they uncovered his plans for mass killings at multiple locations, according to a probable cause affidavit, discovering that he had done “recon” at two targets in Parkland, including Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Numerous posts on social media platforms feature hashtags like #BLM and #PLM, underscoring the perceived parallels between the struggles of Palestinians and African Americans in their fight against systemic racism.

     Still, the trial of the officers charged in Ellis’ case is another example of video footage of a violent arrest possibly playing a critical role in determining whether the police should be held accountable.

    America has struggled with an immigration problem for more than a Century. Regrettably, this problem is due to the federal government’s refusal to pass a new comprehensive immigration policy, failure to fully enforce the existing policy and refusing  to correctly label the problem. A cursory review of this problem suggests that it is impossible to draft a policy in the absence of correctly labeling the problem. America’s borders are facing a strategic overrun by asylum seekers, migrants, refugees, and immigrants armed with their dire needs.

     Now those dream homes are caught in what may be America’s most dire urban fracking nightmare.

Friends Don’t Let Friends Kill Innocent Civilians

     Before becoming a Broadway box office musical, My Fair Lady was a 1913 play and a 1938 film, Pygmalion, produced by George Bernard Shaw. “Eliza Doolittle” was the lead character. Audrey Hepburn and Julie Andrews were the most famous actresses cast in the several iterations of My Fair Lady. But for today’s purposes, neither Shaw, Andrews, or Hepburn ever knew a more fair or genteel lady than my Birtie Preston.

     For the second time this year, Congress’ inability to reach consensus on essential fiscal legislation has devolved into largely partisan bickering and literal, last-minute temporary financial band-aids. On September 30, the last day of the 2022-2023 federal fiscal year, a continuing resolution (CR) provided a 45-day reprieve, just in time to meet a midnight deadline that would have resulted in a federal government shutdown.

According to the Chairman of the National Newspaper Publishers Association Bobby R. Henry, Sr., if those who are a part of the Black Media in America, whom he calls “soldiers without swords,” are to thrive together, “We have to be open and honest and know who is in the foxhole with us, because sometimes you can be killed by friendly fire.”
