     Faith leader Reverend RB Holmes of Tallahassee leads the growing number of coalitions organizing to fight the assault on African American culture in Florida. ” It is critically important that all Floridians continue to raise our collective voices on the sacredness and significance of teaching African American History to all people. Florida law mandates teaching Black history in our public schools. We are calling on the Florida legislature to ensure the teaching of Black history. American history is Black history,” Holmes said.

     Saying the case “arises from Florida’s latest assault on the right to vote,” a federal judge appointed to the bench by President Barack Obama blocked parts of a new elections law on Monday that was challenged by voter-registration groups.

  It is estimated that teachers will spend more than $820 on classroom supplies this year including books, snacks, pencils, paper and cleaning products. To help ease that burden for teachers and families, Broward Education Foundation, the only 501(c)3 charitable organization solely dedicated to serving students and teachers in Broward County Public Schools, has launched its annual school supply drive which equips students with essential supplies and the necessities for success.

      Mr. Melvin Brooks, Deerfield Beach native and Blanche Ely graduate, Class of ‘66, has been appointed Post Commander of Glenn Miller Post 287. Mr. Brooks was duly installed on Sunday, June 25, 2023 , during ceremonies sanctioned by the American Legion and Auxiliary Association in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

Far too often, patients suffering from fibroids are not informed of options for treatment, and women as young as 20 years old are forced to receive hysterectomies.  `In 2021, the National Institute of Mental Health reported that among the 57.8 million adults with AMI (any mental illness), 26.5 million received mental health services. The organization further noted that more women (51.7%) received mental health services than men (40%).
